The Coolidge Corner Theatre hosted a great event today: The BEEP Music and Movie Party! We weren’t exactly sure what to expect today and were pleasantly surprised to see The Philip Alexander Family Band performing their fun and interactive set of original songs.

They band was just wonderful (you have to love a band with an accordion) and the crowd was very excited to be there listening to music and supporting BEEP, The Brookline Early Education Program.

The kids had a blast dancing on stage and marching around the theatre pretending to be a train. Our favorite song was an African song played with two drums. The beat of the drums was addicting—you just had to clap along—and the audience got involved by echoing the lines in the chorus.

It’s always fun (for both the kids and the parents) when the entire theatre is singing and clapping. Hearing everyone sing together always makes Ivan so serious as he listens to the audience participate and harmonize. He finds it almost mesmerizing, as you can see in the picture to the right.

Philip Alexander and his band (including his wife and adorable daughter) put on a really fantastic show today. You can learn more about Philip’s concerts and classes at his website: www.musicwithphilip.com.
