Through this program, Morgan works with kids to teach them the basics of cartooning, story telling, and song writing.

The program is available for schools and libraries and geared toward kids of all ages and abilities. In the video below Morgan explains how the program works and how they were able to incorporate three different age groups into one seamless project:

Alice started teaching families with young children in Brookline back in the ’90s, and discovered the desperate need young local families had for quality music to share with their children (and a desperate need for her to have quality music to teach families with young children). FMM created a crafty and exciting way to introduce families to a variety of musical genres and sounds by recording seven CD collections with over 200 songs. These songs quickly become a household favorite and are delivered to families by Boston Conservatory Alum (and now mom of two!) Carrie Klimeczko in an electric weekly presentation.

Family Music Makers has been present in many communities over the years and has landed a home base with Linx Enrichment Center in Wellesley. FMM also maintains classes in the Back Bay and West End of Boston, as well as through non-profit organizations like NEMPAC and USES.

You can visit the Family Music Makers page to learn more about the classes being offered in Wellesley and Boston, or check out the Linx website to find out more about the enrichment center.

Have you been thinking about getting your child music lessons but you’re not sure how to fit it into your busy schedule? Wouldn’t it be great if someone would just come out to your house and sit down with your kids for an hour or so and teach them to play fun music?

I just found out about a great program that will do just that for families living in the Greater Boston and Metro West areas: Jammin’ with You. Jammin’ with You will send trained professionals (who just happen to be great with kids and teens) out to your house to work with your kids—on your time!

Children can learn to play a number of different instruments, including piano, guitar, bass, drums, saxophone, clarinet, flute, violin, or voice. Whether your child is a beginner or is already taking lessons at school and wants to refine their skills, the Jammin’ with You teachers can help them right along.

I was really excited to see that Jammin’ with You also offers Music Therapy services. As the parent of a special needs child I can attest to the wonderful results to be gained through professional music therapy. In fact, I’ve written an article explaining the benefits of music therapy.

Jammin’ with You also offers weekly group lessons for 3, 4 and 5 year olds through the Creative Movement and Arts Center in Needham. And it looks like they are planning a future kids’ choir program, too! How exciting! You can learn more about all their programs and pricing here.

For a first hand look at some amazing students from Jammin’ with You, check out their YouTube Channel. Here is my favorite video of cutie-pie kindergartener Mark playing piano:

Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals is a hip music program for children aged 6 months thru 5 years based on the original children’s music of David Weinstone.

David started writing songs for his children back in the ’90s, passed the tapes (yes, back in the days of tapes!) to his playgroups and before he knew it word had spread and he had begun his first class in the basement of a restaurant in the East Village!

Now, years later, his music is often heard on Noggin and Jacks’ Big Music Show and his class programs have spread throughout the nation.

And now the Aardvarks are coming to the Boston area! Stacey Peasley is bringing David’s program to the metrowest area and starting Music for Aardvarks and Other Mammals right here in Natick!

You can visit the Boston Aardvarks page to learn more about the classes being offered in Natick, or check out David’s Music for Aardvarks to find out more about the program.
