This is a big weekend for Boston fans of Gustafer Yellowgold!

Gustafer creator, Morgan Taylor, will be on the awesome radio program, The Playground, this Saturday at 6pm. Tune your dial to WERS at 88.9 FM and listen to Morgan talk about his music and play some Gustafer songs. All for free and in your living room – what could be better?

Actually, I think maybe a live performance at Coolidge Corner may be better. So after listening to Gustafer on the radio on Saturday night, why not head on out to Coolidge Corner in Brookline on Sunday morning to see the show live and in person?

The Gustafer Yellowgold show will be on Sunday, November 13th at 10:30 am. Tickets are $7.75 for kids and $9.75 for adults. You can buy tickets in advance here.

2nd Annual Children’s Concert
On Saturday, November 5th, the Seacoast Mothers Association (SMA) and The Children’s Music Network (CMN) will host their 2nd Annual Children’s Concert. The concert will feature several of New England’s favorite performers, all CMN members: Steve Blunt, Sammie Haynes, Matt Loosigian and Tina Stone & Diana Kane, and get underway at 10AM at the Community Campus, 100 Campus Drive, in Portsmouth. 100% of ticket sales will be donated to the Children’s Music Network and to a NH Music Educators’ Association scholarship given to a Seacoast area high school senior pursuing music in college . Tickets can be purchased at the door and are 5$ per child (adults are free) with a limit of $10 per family.

BOO!  Steve Blunt & The Spooky Band will perform at Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry, NH, this Saturday, October 22, at 12 noon.  This family concert will celebrate the release of a brand new CD, THERE’S A VAMPIRE AT MY DOOR.  The CD is a frighteningly fun collection of spine-tickling sing-alongs and rockin’ tunes guaranteed to shake your scaries out.  (Free CD track is below–scroll down!)

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? How about a special live performance by two-time-Grammy-winners Cathy & Marcy?

This is the first time they’ve been in our area in about five years, so it’s a real treat to have them here. Let’s show them that they’re appreciated!

Cathy & Marcy will be at The Center for Arts Natick (TCAN) on Saturday, October 15 at 2:00pm.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children and are on sale now.

If you can’t make TCAN, Cathy & Marcy will also be at The Firehouse Center for the Arts in Newburyport on October 16th at 3pm.

Bari Koral is coming to Coolidge Corner on October 23rd and this will be a show that you won’t want to miss!

Bari’s music is poppy and up beat. She keeps kids happy and excited with jumpy rhythms and songs that are fun to sing along to. Plus she’s just the sweetest person you could ever meet!

Bari’s first two albums, Bari Koral Family Rock Band and Rock and Roll Garden, are two of our favorites and we are excitedly expecting the her newest, Anna and the Cupcakes, set to be released on Valentine’s Day. But wait, Valentine’s Day is sooooo far away! How can we possible wait that long?

Did you miss the Gustafer Yellowgold show when it came to the Regent this summer? No worries! You can catch the show this November at Coolidge Corner!

That’s right, Gustafer is coming back and brining all his friends with him, including Morgan Taylor, which is a good thing since Morgan is the one who sings all the songs.

If you haven’t seen a Gustafer concert, then you (and your kids) are in for a treat. Morgan plays a collection of story songs all about Gustafer (a big furry yellow guy from the sun) and his travels on earth. Gustafer has made a lot of neat friends and been on all sorts of adventures since coming to earth… and you get to learn all about it through song!

But that’s not all, Morgan also plays animation on a large screen while singing the songs, so you get to see the stories too! It’s a multi-sensory experience that really brings the whole thing to life. You kind of feel like Gustafer is really there in the room with you (and thank goodness he’s a nice big furry yellow guy from the sun)!

There are two great shows coming up soon at Amazing Things Arts Center in Framingham.

On October 8th be sure to catch Joe’s Backyard Band at 10:30 am. They’ve got a great mix of blues and American roots style with an assortment of instruments, everything from acoustic guitar to saxophone. They’re amazing to see live!

Then on October 15th you won’t want to miss Suzi Shelton at 10:30 am. Suzi’s music is sweet and fun and if you’re lucky she’ll invite her kids on stage to sing with her!

Tickets are $10 each ($8 for members). Sounds like a nice way to spend a breezy autumn morning!

The Children’s Music Network is hosting its annual conference on Cape Cod this fall, September 16-18. Fun, friendship, and music are guaranteed–with workshops, songswaps, and a keynote presentation by singer/storyteller, Barry Louis Polisar. Check out the details at: http://www.cmnonline.org !!!

The Regattabar is continuing their family series again this year and so far have three excellent shows lined up.

We’re super excited to see local artist Mariana Iranzi playing there on July 31st at 4:30.

Her jazzy style of kids music will fit right in with the classy motif of the Regattabar, but I’m sure we’ll still be able to get away with running around and dancing anyway.

They’ve also booked Elizabeth Mitchell for July 24th and Bill Harley for August 7th. All shows are on a Sunday at 4:30pm.

I’ll keep my eye on their schedule to see if they add any more family-friendly shows, but for now, this is quite a line up!
