Children's Music Network

Boston-area musicians Tina Stone and Diana Kane learned how to play a concerto on the kazoo!

The Children’s Music Network (CMN) had a rocking time this month at its 22nd Annual National Conference in Black Mountain, North Carolina, on October 9-11, with lots of New England kids’ musicians in attendance!

Yes, that was Fran Friedman playing a big marimba, and Tina Stone and Diana Kane blowing on kazoos provided by Rick “Kazoobie” Hubbard, America’s top kazoo dealer.

Other New England musicians attending included Philip Alexander (Music with Philip), Laura DeCesare, Steve Blunt, Kathy Lowe, Lucy Gatchall, Sammie Haynes and Ellen Bowman.

The conference featured workshops that ranged from the nuts and bolts of marketing to singing and dancing with preschoolers.

Children's Music Network

Magic Penny Award winner Tom Chapin jammed with Children’s Music Network
members from around the country.

The Network awarded its annual Magic Penny Award for lifetime achievement to Tom Chapin, a singer-songwriter whose uplifting music appeals across the generations.

The conference also enjoyed an extraordinary performance and keynote by the ever-awesome Billy Jonas, who plays percussion on everything from water-cooler jugs to paint-cans! And of course, folks sang and sang and sang some more.

CMN cordially invites anyone who loves kids and music to visit our web page www.cmnonline.org and attend our regional conference scheduled for March 13, 2010 at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
