The Bari Koral Family Rock Band is coming out with a new CD next month, Rock and Roll Garden
. The first song, Hey Ducky is an awesome tune about five little duckies who swim along and each become distracted by something fun, like a rainbow or a dolphin show. The lyrics are simple and super easy to sing along to, while the melody is just complicated enough to be interesting without being overwhelming.
The entire CD is a gem. My son loves The Backpack Song, especially when Bari packs the cat. How silly!
Check out Bari’s website for more info, www.BariKoral.com, and keep an eye out for the new CD due for release on January 14th.

Stories in Music has just released a really cool rendition of the traditional tale The Tortoise and the Hare
set to classical music. The story is narrated by Yadu who tells the tale with a few silly twists (like the fact that the hare stops in the middle of the race so he can eat some yummy onion soup).
Meanwhile the London Philharmonic Orchestra provides the score as well as the emotion. This is a great way to introduce your kids to classical music and this CD would also be a fun addition to a long holiday car trip (the story runs about an hour).
The Mickey Spain Jamboree, a children’s folk band from New Hampshire, has just released a new CD called What Do You Think I Saw Today. The band has a very classic Americana sound and a lot of their songs are about animals and imagination (two things with which all kids are infatuated). My son especially likes the song The Barnyard Dance where we find out what the farm animals do after the farmer goes to bed. There are also songs about spiders, dogs, fish, and monkeys.
It’s really a sweet CD. Check out the bands website for more information, MickeySpain.com, where you can learn more about the band and listen to some of their songs.
