Independence day in Massachusetts is a marvelous thing! You can really feel the history here and the celebrations are both significant and fun.
So we decided to head out to Concord, home of the shot heard round the world and arguably the beginning of the Revolutionary War, to celebrate America’s birthday.

The day was beautiful (not a rain drop in sight!) and Concord hosted its annual Picnic in the Park with fun and games for the kids, sack races, food, and (our favorite) music.
One of our all-time favorite bands, Southern Rail, was there performing their signature blue grass songs. The music was perfect and we had a wonderful time enjoying the day and hanging out with the other families.
And the apple pie was delicious!
