Lora Lang and family recently won free tickets to see Ralph’s World play at The Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire from Boston Children’s Music. Lora wrote about their experience and I’m posting it below. It sounds like they had a wonderful time!

Ralph's World

A Perfect Sunday Afternoon

Our journey started with a stroll through scenic Portsmouth on a beautiful day. Our destination was the historic landmark of The Music Hall. We traveled there with great anticipation to see a favorite performer of ours: Ralph Covert of Ralph’s World. Our children were introduced to Ralph through Playhouse Disney and soon became avid fans collecting Ralph’s CD’s and DVD. While our children sing and dance daily to Ralph’s music, this would be a special treat to see him perform in person for the first time.

After getting our tickets and heading into the theater to find our seats, we were met by a great surprise: Ralph himself was there to greet his fans before the concert began! He was happily talking with children and parents, signing shirts, books, and CDs. His down-to-earth attitude made you feel like he was greeting you as an old friend. Ralph was able to quickly draw out our star-struck and shy son. This was a wonderful surprise and made the whole experience very personal.

Ralph's World

The show started with Rhyming Circus from Ralph’s most recent released CD of the same name. After this first number he invited kids to come on down to the open area in front of the stage.

Ralph’s style was very interactive, constantly talking with his audience and leading them into singing and dancing with him. He continued to play favorites from all of his albums, often pausing in between to tell stories and interact with parents and children alike. This great interaction even went so far as to break out into a mini Q&A session with the children after the Green Gorilla song, with children offering up explanations regarding the ‘red banana’ from the song, such as its red because its sun-burned.

But this was not for children alone. Myself along with several other parents were invited to come up on stage with Ralph and the band during the Abby’s Alphabet Soup song, during which we all got our silly on and made the letters of the alphabet with our bodies. For the finale Ralph invited everyone who ever wanted to be a Rock Star, parents and children alike, to all come up on stage to join him and the band. This was a one-of-a-kind experience.

After the show ended, Ralph once again made himself available to all. Signing autographs, taking pictures, and just out there meeting and thanking all his fans for coming out. If you ever have the opportunity to see Ralph’s World, don’t hesitate. You will love the experience!

I want to thank Boston Children’s Music for the opportunity to see Ralph’s World.

Sincerely,

Lora, Chuck, Tommy, & Shaun
