Love Songs for Kids

by Amber on February 13, 2010

With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, I’ve been thinking of all the sweet songs about family and love that we listen to every day. Ivan tends to be pretty snuggly in the afternoon after school and we’ll sit and listen to some of these mellow songs and just cuddle—until it’s time to start playing again!

They never outgrow this loving stage, right?

Renee & JeremyWe just started listening to two CDs from Renee & Jeremy, C’mon (2009) and It’s a Big World (2007). Both are just full of sweet, loving, mellow songs that are great for those cuddly times with your kids. I especially love the simplicity of Mama Papa Love, “Mama loves you so much baby, what you gonna do with that love? Papa loves you so much baby, what you gonna do with that love?” Ivan loves the song Wishing Well with the perfect overlapping voices and harmonies. These are definitely two sweetheart CDs to check out!

Family PhotographThe Dreyer Family’s Family Photograph is another feel-good kids’ album full of endearing family love. One of our favorite songs on this album is The I Love You Song. I think the title speaks for itself.

MeltdownJustin Roberts really shook up the children’s music scene in 2006 with the release of Meltdown. And, as you can see, some of us are still talking about it! Song For You is a lovely song about a parent’s love for his child. Make sure you have someone nearby to hug while you listen to this song.

Debbie & FriendsDebbie & Friends has a new CD coming out soon, but before you get too excited you’d better be sure to check out their first one, Story Songs and Sing Alongs. Ivan loves to listen to Love Is a Family when he’s in the mood for a good cuddle—and the rest of the album is great for dancing!

In the Kid ZoneAsheba’s In The Kid Zone is full of bouncy, dancey songs, but Precious Little Bless is a mellower song about love and family. My precious little bless loves this song!
