Saying Goodbye

by Amber on December 1, 2010

Me and Ivan outside of Club PassimBoston Children’s Music sprouted from a conversation with my husband after we attended an amazing show at TCAN. The show had been sparsely attended and we felt that someone out there should start a website dedicated to helping promote local artists and telling Massachusetts families about all the live music shows going on in the area.

We got home, saw that the domain name was available, and the rest is history.

I’ve been working on the site for about a year and a half now and it’s been an amazing experience. We’ve gotten to know so many talented local children’s musicians and I feel like the site has become an important part of the kids’ music scene here in Boston.

But I’ve been running the site as a mom who has some free time while her son’s at school. It’s never been something I’ve done for profit and it’s always been something to do as a hobby. I’m fortunate enough now that I can say I don’t have as much free time at my disposal—but it also means that I’m going to have to say goodbye to Boston Children’s Music.

I’m hoping to find either a person or an organization who might take over the site and continue creating a valuable resource for local musicians and fans. I know the site has huge potential and I already feel that it’s become very important to the artists as well as to many, many fans. I’d be very sad to see the site languish and hope someone will want to continue providing a music calendar, reviews, interviews, and insight into the music scene in Boston and around New England. It’s a lot of work, but it’s very much worth it!

I’ve decided that I will have to stop working on the site by the end of the year—which is looming! If anyone is interested in talking to me about taking over the site, please contact me! To everyone else, thank you for reading this blog and I hope to see you at a concert soon!
