Summer So Far…

Ben Rudnick and Friends concert in Arlington.

Ben Rudnick and Friends play for an excited crowd in Arlington.

Since Ivan has been on summer vacation and I’m a full-time mommy again, I haven’t had as much time to post to the site as I’d like. But that doesn’t mean that we haven’t been out enjoying tons of fun music concerts in Massachusetts!

On July 30th we saw Peter & Ellen Allard play at the Belmont Library. Peter and Ellen just completed a round of shows touring Massachusetts libraries. They played a great show that really appealed to the young toddler audience and kept everyone excited and entertained.

On August 5th we saw Judy Pancoast play in Lowell. This was our first chance to see Judy perform live and we had a great time. Her music is fresh and fun and she really encourages the kids to get up and dance. I also loved her message of accepting others that are different than you.

On the 6th we saw Ben Rudnick and Friends play an outdoor evening concert at the Robbins Library in Arlington. They do this show annually and it’s not to be missed. That Arlington crowd sure can dance!

We’ve also been regularly attending jeanniemack’s shows at the Cambridge Finagle-a-Bagel at 10:30 am on Mondays and 11:00 am on Saturdays. Ivan has become quite hooked on jeanniemack’s music! He’s so excited when we go to see her play and he seems to even think of her as a personal friend—it’s very sweet!

Today was one of our most looked-forward-to shows of the summer: Debbie and Friends came to play a free show at the Watertown Library! Ivan just loves Debbie’s music and we were even lucky enough to hear one of their new songs, which I’m assuming will be on their next CD. We’re very excited about it!

This weekend we’re looking forward to seeing Monadnock Bluegrass play at Verrill Farm for their Corn and Tomato Festival on Saturday and Sunday and Ben Rudnick and Friends will be playing at the Regattabar in Cambridge on Sunday at 4:30 pm. We’re also excited about Michael and Marisa playing at the Greenfest in Boston on August 22. You can find more show listings on our Event Calendar which I am still updating regularly.

And even though we’re having a lot of fun, I must admit I am also looking forward to school starting up again in September…
