They Might Be Giants

They Might Be Giants

They might be giants, but there’s no question that they rock! Our entire family is just in awe after seeing TMBG this Sunday at the Regent Theatre.

I think it’s safe to say at this point that we’ve been to a lot of kids concerts and I would definitely say, without a doubt, that this was the most spectacular show we’ve ever been to.

Big time rock shows are all about the spectacle and TMBG doesn’t tone it down for the kids. Oh no. Imagine a big band on stage, flashing lights that change colors and are in sync with the songs, a screen that shows footage of the audience and adorable singing hand puppets, and (the best thing in the world for a child) two confetti cannons!

Plus the Regent is the perfect venue. The music was loud and booming, but not over powering (hats off to the sound crew!), the elaborate stage production went off without a hitch, and everyone had enough space to enjoy the show and rock out at the same time.

TMBG performed two shows on Sunday and both were completely sold out. If you missed out this time around you’ll have to make sure you’re first in line the next time they come to town. Seriously. If your kids love to rock then this is a must see show!

And for the grown up fans, they did play a couple of oldies too, like Particle Man and a really hip jazzy version of Istanbul.

Here’s one of our videos of TMBG performing Seven Days Of The Week (I Never Go To Work):

We’ve also posted all our photos from the event on our Facebook page and I just love this video of John Flansburgh letting the kids in the front row play his guitar.

If you have any photos or videos to share send them along! I’d love to post them on the site.

We were there on Sunday for the noon show with our three boys, including our 4 yr old with special needs. The show was awesome for many reasons – thank you to TMBG for showing us how to enjoy live music again. (I even blogged about it myself!)
